Beaches

The traditional Cretan guest-house "Stamatogiannis" is located 3km from Kastelli Kissamou and 40km from the city of Chania. Kasteli Kissamou is the passenger port which coves the ship line West Crete - Peloponnisos -Piraeus.

Near by famous beaches are those of Gramvousa (Balos) and Falasarna. In front of the traditional guest-house there is a path which leads to the beach of Falasarna on foot. Falasarna beach is a long sandy beach with wonderful sunsets.

Balos Lagoon is one of the best beaches all over Greece with white-pinkish sand and broken sea-shells. Famous places are Gorge of Samaria, Gorge of Topolia, Cave of Agias Sofias, Elafonisi, Nopigia and other fabulous beaches.

Elafonisi Lagoon is one of the prettiest beaches in Crete. You may also swim out of the lagoon. The water is deep, crystal-clear, much colder and good for snorkelling.
Other interesting places are the archaeological places of Polirinia and Falasarna, Venetsian Castle of Gramvousa, the Roman Baths in Kasteli Kissamou, Bizantine churches, monasteries and traditional villages.
